One of the many Ferocactus species that flower at a surprisingly small size, but which in nature can get big. Actually, I mean huge, 500 lb (226 kg) or more. This plant is about 6" (15 cm) in diameter and the species doesn't get huge that I'm aware of. I think I've seen them in Phoenix about soccer ball (called a "football" outside the US) size. It's a reliable late fall/winter flowering plant.
