Mamnmillaria sp. (possibly microcarpa)    7/9/21
I've lost the name of this species, if I ever had it. The plant reminds me very much of the super common "Mammillaria microcarpa" that flowers at the end of summer around Tucson. I only ever went out looking one time for these plants. The heat in summer in Southern Arizona is punishing. This species, whatever it is, is an example of cactus flowering over a long period of time. Lots of Mammillarias flower over weeks, with individual plants doing so for maybe several days to weeks. Note the many buds along with the open flowers on this plant. The individual flowers may open and close over a few days.   (013/112)
