Pilosocereus sp.    7/8/21
I've gotten more flowers this year from these plants than the total summed over all the years I've had them. But still, the flowering has not been in much reproductive synch. I think that I had about 8 flowers in varying stages over three days. I did have some luck, in that two flowers on the left plant were fertilized and fruit grew. Logically, there must have been at least one flower on the right plant that provided good pollen to the left plant. But, the left plant's flowers did not have pollen of the proper ripeness (whatever this is) to pollinate a flower on the right plant. Sex is as complicated for plants as for animals, maybe more so. Timing is critical. There are lots of perfect flowers that are self-sterile in the plant world.   (009/112)
