All members of this species also have a red base to their flowers, but they are obviously (no kidding!) not Echinocereus reichenbachii. The “bicolor’ epithet was actually coined for the two-toned spines, not the flower, which is maybe three-toned here. The species starts in trans-Pecos Texas and runs down into Mexico for many miles.
