This is from the same seed batch of the same collection number. Note the different flower shape, along with a color difference. The white strings that you see among the flowers are actually long thin spines that this plant produces and that the act of flowering at the apex apparently separates from the plant. I’ve not seen anything like this before in any other cactus. Both this and the preceding plant had more than a dozen flowers each at the same time over more than a week. Not a single fruit has resulted from my daily pollination attempts.   (05/40)
