Echinocereus coccineus arizonicus MG191.23     5/15/20
This is an interesting plant, cold hardy in Los Alamos. My four plants have spend the winter outside the past three winters. I almost don't believe it's a coccineus. Maybe it should be just E. arizonicus. I finally looked hard at the flowers, remembering that I've never been able to make seeds. All four of my plants are females, I think. No male to pollinate them. But there were lots of coccineus flowering around them, with still no seeds. Maybe the arizonicus really is a different species. Maybe it's diploid vs coccineus being tetraploid. No seeds by crossing a diploid flower with a tetraploid flower.   (45/56)
