Echinocereus arizonicus     10/08/19
Here is a neat example that demonstrates the water rule for cacti. If the plant is growing, water. No growing, no water. The plant is growing when the apical and sub-apical, if present, meristems are bright. What does "bright" mean? The top plant has no bright spines. The bottom plant has lots. Unfortunately, the top plant has looked like this all summer, so it never grew. Probably a root problem. Oh, well. I have three plants that grew.   (38/40)
