Because the plant is so small, it's usually hidden by the flower, so you've never seen the fine white hairs that adorn the top of this plant. The wicked-looking spines are also usually hidden. They only appear wicked. They're quite soft and won't penetrate skin. The pot you see is 2.5 in (6 cm) on a side, so this plant is about the size of a big marble.   (09/24)
