Mammillaria senilis     2/13/18
This species gets much bigger (it's in a 2" (5 cm) pot) but it does flower at a small size. This flower has been open for four days so far and never closes up once it opens. The central spines don't come hooked until a year or so after germination. Beware of the hooked spines. They appear soft but are strong and hang on tenaciously to clothing, etc. If you're not careful when you brush by you might wind up wearing one of these. It used to be in its own genus - Mammillopsis, which means "like Mammillaria."   (07/32)
