Notocactus ottonis, red-bodied form 8/4/16
This cultivar (?) tends to have seven ribs, the lower end of the given count (in books) of 6-15 ribs for N. ottonis. The green body gets very reddish in full sun. It probably is shaded by tall grasses in habitat. A red/brown color usually is the plant telling you it’s getting too much sun, kind of like you getting sunburned. (17/32)
