It’s been a very long time since the last mailing in June. There has not been the usual summer crush of flowers screaming at me to get busy, but there have been some. I’ve fertilized the pots this summer, so I hope for a much better show next year. Last winter I transplanted over a thousand stunted and crowded seedlings of various old and new species into more spacious quarters (that is, pots of various sizes) and the little things have grown into much bigger specimens over the summer. Fall, coming up, is actually the best growing time for small plants, in my experience. The bonsai effect on cacti in tiny pots is reversible. I expect to see some new flowers next year.
