stupefied bee in E. dasyacanthus
The bee is catatonic. It’s like it’s in some sort of ecstasy. I can move the bee around with a soft paintbrush. It doesn’t fly away. The condition may last more than an hour. Sometimes the bee dies. I guess bees get stoned like people, and sometimes od. Figuring out the chemistry of this phenomenon would be a great undergraduate research project for either biology or chemistry (or psychology??) majors. (24/40)
