Four years ago, all four of these White Sands E. trigs were the same size and in the same size pot as the smallest plant that you see here. The smallest plant shown has not gotten much bigger in the past four years. The plant in the preceding picture is present. You can see the result of transplanting to bigger pots. Note that the fact that the plants were in small pots for several years does not limit their size when transplanted to bigger pots. Cacti are natural subjects for what we know in the West as “bonsai.” This is the Japanese term for the dwarfing of plants by using small pots. There is no skill required, just a small pot. The Chinese actually invented the technique, but I have never learned the Chinese term for the process. I saw thousands of dwarfed trees in pots in China.   (06/40)
