Peniocereus greggii SNL1     10/13/19
The right hand fruit finally split in November. I harvested the seeds and planted them in January. In nature, the fruit of this species is ripe after two to three months. But, in habitat (Tucson AZ) the day temperatures are 105 - 115 F. My day temperatures in Los Alamos are usually 80-90F (25-30 C) so it takes much more time to ripen the fruit. In fact, it probably couldn't ripen without the late summer and fall time in the greenhouse. The seeds that I planted actually didn't look ripe to me. So much for my expert knowledge   (21/24)
