Echinocereus viridiflorus SNL133 variation     2/23/20
More cactus lore. These two plants are from the same seed batch and are therefore the same age. The right hand plant is wonderfully spiny with red tipped, becoming black, white central spines. Its mate has had no central spines but is now starting to make some, which so far look solid red to me. I'm trying to breed a very red plant of this species and this collection number is my source material for the attempt. The little fuzzies on both plants are buds emerging. I'm pretty sure that the species loses all central spines with age, but I could be wrong. I'll keep you posted. The pots are 2.5" (7 cm) on a side.    (20/24)
