Turbinicarpus schmiedickianus MG1296     1/23/20
I've had two plants of this species for more than ten years. They've flowered at the same time, usually. Not a single fruit has formed. This may just be a matter of (biological) sexual incompatibility. But, I noticed this time that some flowers are lacking a pistil. Maybe the plant exists as separate males and females (Technically, the species would then be "dioecious." I know of at least one cactus in this category - Echinocereus coccineus.)   (02/24)
