If you look carefully at the relationship between the pistil and the stamens you'll see why I think this should be a good species in its own right. The style of the pistil is asymmetrically positioned with respect to the stamens. That is, the pistil comes out past the outside of the clump of stamens, rather than symmetrically within the clump of stamens. I don't remember seeing this structure in another cactus flower.   (56/56)
