Lobivia pentlandii     5/27/18
My herd of this species. I wonder if it's hardy here. It's native habitat of San Luis Potosi is about 13,000 feet in elevation, in Bolivia, way above tree line. The place has an evil reputation. Indian slavery and mercury poisoning of same, for over 100 years. Potosi was an apparently silver mountain and provided more than half of the world's silver to the Spanish for over 100 years. The Spanish in turn traded the silver to the Chinese for silk and porcelain, etc.   (06/72)
