Lobivia pentlandii KK441     5/2/18
This is the much older (8 yrs?) parent of the previous seedlings. I have 18 of this species, having various collection numbers. They have very differently shaped flowers of various colors, from yellow to pinkish to red. The first flowers started at the end of January on a plant in the southernmost exposure of one of my unheated cloches. Right now I estimated that there are a hundred or so newly forming buds in my population. As with many Lobivias, the older plants develop some vigorous spines. This is another species to consider for the casual cactus person.   (51/72)
