Neoporteria villosa     2/8/18
This plant has been flowering for about three months. Marvelous spines.
The flowers of the winter-flowering plants are very much alike. This may be due to the fact that there are not many different pollinators available at their flowering time. The same may be true for the Copiapoas. The whole genus Copiapoa has very similar flowers to my eye. The preceding is an example of idle speculation. It illustrates the fact that one can imagine all kinds of explanations for matters of fact. Finding out the truth is often more work than it's worth, except of course for hobby-nuts like me.   (19/32)
