Turbinicarpus schmiedickianusi MG1296     12/4/17
This plant and its mate have been blooming sporadically since last November in my cool (40 F (5 C) at night) greenhouse. None of my crossings of the two plants have resulted in a fruit. Just like animals, plants can be sexually incompatible. That is, their matings will not make seeds (= potential offspring). I want once more to recommend this genus and it's relative, Gymnocactus, to those who want small cacti. Every plant of these two genera in this set is about 10 years old. Each is in a pot about 2" (5 cm) on a side. And many members of the two genera flower sporadically over some months, each flower lasting two or three days.   (01/32)
