Lithops fulviceps     2/19/17
Another South African Mesemb, not a cactus You can see almost every phase in this species eating itself to make a brand new plant. The new leaves absorb all the matter of the old leaves. This makes for a nice new plant every year. Any marring of the plant “body” (really two leaves) disappears as the new leaves form. Cacti are stem succulents and injuries to stems take a long time to grow out of, if ever.   (21/24)
