Setiechinopsis mirabilis
9 months after sowing seed I'm kind of celebrating the fact that I've been able to grow cacti from seed again the normal way (seeds in soil) after three years of failures. I also want to correct a probable misunderstanding you have that cacti take many years to start flowering. The obvious bud bloomed a couple of days after this picture was taken, and the other two buds bloomed a few days after that. The cells that you see are about 2" (5 cm) on a side, so you can see that the stems are about a centimeter in diameter. Every stem is a separate plant. The less vigorous plants have been out-competed by the survivors you see.   (13/32)
